Who, What, When, Where, Why, How
Me. Design. Always. Everywhere. Why not? Let me tell you.
The way design can start from just a simple, creative thought and manifest into something huge is why I love it so much. My favorite part of the whole process is seeing the final product. I know what you’re saying, “duh Michelle, who’s isn’t?” Then you understand! The way design can go from something you’ve been working on for a long time on the computer to something you can hold, hang, ogle at brings me so much joy as a designer.
My love for spacing and images started at a young age doing arts & crafts at home and at school. It became even more of a passion when I entered in a contest for a school assignment to design a city flag. I remember it like it was yesterday, I woke up to a phone call from my mom at work saying I had won. I had no idea what she was talking about so she explained that my computer graphics teacher had called her and told her I won the class assignment. My design was going to be an ACTUAL FLYING FLAG. Whaatttt? Fast forward a couple months and I was on TV chatting with the chamber of commerce, I met with a vexillologist (I’ll wait until you google that), my design was on a watch, hat, pen, etc (I even saw it flying at other people’s houses). I got a call asking me to be on a float in the city parade, man what a day. And then the day came when I got to be there when the flag made it’s big time debut up a flag pole. It was a moment — you had to be there. Anyway, that was the motivation I needed to join the yearbook as a design editor and further that passion in college pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many unique design clients and learn about their specific fields. And the rest they say…is design history!
